Felix Santoro came to America from Potenza in Italy just after the turn of the century. He worked in Cannonsburg and later moved to Pittsburgh. He was in the Army in WW1 and later in Panama. Then he worked for the Pittsburgh Water Company for a brief while before starting his own glass business. Sylvia Santoro was born in Pittsburgh in the early 1900s. She married Felix while still young, and was a dedicated housewife and mother. When I was kid they lived about 1 mile from me and their home was my second home as a kid. Their house was 1/4 mile from Fox Chapel High School, so I had a key to their house and would often stop there before and after school.
Howard Odel Morse was born in Pittsburgh in the very late 1800s. He started out playing clarinet, supposedly for Sousa's marching band. Later he became a Police Detective and finally a private detective. He died when I was 2 years old. My Dad said he was a "tough" guy, but he loved his grandkids. Hattie Morse was also born in the late 1800s, on a farm in Ohio. Of German ancestry, she was the sweetest and kindest person I have ever known. She spent 2 weeks a month with us and then 2 weeks with Uncle Howard, her son. She often watched me when Mom and Dad went out or on trips. As I got older it was me watching her!
